California School Garden Program
Important Dates
All Spring applications must be postmarked by June 1.
Grantees will be notified by July 15.
All Fall applications must be postmarked by November 15.
Grantees will be notified by January 15.
Grant Specifics
Awards may include:
- Up to $1500
- Irrigation Kit courtesy of T-Tape by T-Systems
- Seeds
- Teacher Resources
- Local contacts to assist you in the planning, planting and sustaining of your garden
- Local retail contacts that will work with you stretch your funds

Grant Criteria
The following are a few criteria from the evaluation form that can mean the difference between an application that gets a school a School Garden Program grant, and an application that is not considered:

• Detailed sketch of garden area including cement, walkways, shade and water sources

• Students heavily involved in planning, planting, harvesting, etc.

• Garden will be primarily fruits and vegetables

• List the uses of the garden

• Letter of recommendation
