Arizona School Garden Grant Program
A Specialty Crop Competiteveness Act Block Grant from the Arizona Department of Agriculture will allow us to create an Arizona School Garden Program in 2010.
Each school that is chosen to participate will receive an award of $1,250 to purchase garden and teacher supplies to create a school garden on their campus to be used for nutrition education. The schools will also receive their choice of a raised bed kit, or a portable container garden kit.
If you are interested in becoming involved in our program, please read the following guidelines: Schools involved in this special program will receive:
- A prefabricated kit to start their garden, either an easily assembled raised bed, or an Earthbox portable gardening system.
- $1,250 to purchase garden resources and supplies
Each school that is accepted to the program must:
- Be open to possible site visits by Foundation representatives
- Teach nutrition education in the garden
- Complete pre- and post-garden questionnaires (provided by the Foundation) with at least 30 students, to be submitted to the Foundation
- Provide 3 photos of the garden in use (in digital format)
Applications for this program must be postmarked by June 30, 2010. Selection will be made by July 30, 2010
