It is imperative for the produce industry to identify and understand the cause or causes of food safety system failures during growing, harvesting and post-harvest operations. Root Cause Analysis is a method of evaluating failures and involves a systematic process to determine how and why a failure occurred. This approach is commonly applied to process improvement and it is vital to a produce safety system. This webinar will cover key concepts and tools available to conduct a root cause analysis. In addition, our featured speaker will share a case study to illustrate this process.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has launched a new initiative to better understand the ecology of human pathogens in the environment in the Yuma agricultural region. The initiative – which will focus on how pathogens survive, move and possibly contaminate produce prior to harvest – will be implemented with support from the Arizona Department of Agriculture, University of Arizona Cooperative Extension, Wellton-Mohawk Irrigation and Drainage District and members of the Yuma area leafy greens industry.
