Following the issuance of excessive heat warnings for many areas throughout California by the National Weather Service’s issuance, Cal/OSHA sent out a notice reminding employers to protect their outdoor workers from heat illness. The greater San Diego area and the Inland Empire east of Los Angeles as well as cities in the San Francisco Bay Area are expected to experience 100+ degree weather this week.
As summer approaches, it is important to revisit Cal/OSHA regulations to help protect outdoor workers against heat-related illness and death. The State Compensation Insurance Fund has partnered with Cal/OSHA to offer Heat Illness Prevention Seminars free to the public.
California heat of the past several years has shattered temperature records going back more than 100 years. With this year’s heat season approaching, please remember that prevention is the best defense for outdoor workers against heat-related illness and death.
