Recently, Western Growers' HR Learning and Development Manager Anna Bilderbach delivered Harassment Prevention training to WG members in Orange Cove, CA, including Sanger Citrus, Mulholland Citrus, and Booth Ranches. As previously reported in spotlight, on August 15, California Governor Gavin Newsom signed Senate Bill (SB) 778, which updates the state’s sexual harassment training requirements.

With this new law, employers with five or more employees are required to provide the following:

The California Senate has passed AB 5, which codifies and expands on the “ABC” test for determining whether a worker should be classified as an employee or an independent contractor.  The new test was adopted by the California Supreme Court’s Dynamex decision in 2018.  In Dynamex, the California Supreme Court held that under this ABC test, workers are presumed to be employees unless all three of the following conditions are met:
