As a reminder, employers covered by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration's (OSHA) injury and Illness Recordkeeping Rules are required to post an OSHA Form 300A.  This is a summary log of all work-related injuries and illnesses that occurred at your place of business in 2013.  The form is available for downloading from the OSHA website.  Employers with 10 or fewer employees are exempt (unless they have a fatality, which must be reported.)

In the Agriculture & the Law column appearing in the January 2014 issue of the Western Grower & Shipper (WG&S) magazine, it was erroneously reported that the California minimum wage will increase from $8.00 to $9.00 per hour on January 1, 2014. In fact, the effective date of the first of two scheduled increases is July 1, 2014.

Bus loads of farmers and farm workers from the Central Valley and the Central Coast descended on the state capitol this morning to take part in a Latino-sponsored water rally as reported by the Sacramento Bee.  The purpose of the rally was to bring attention to the state’s severe water shortage and the effect it is having.  Shouts of, “No water – no jobs!” rang loud and clear and were accompanied by signs that read, “Sin agua=no ay future” (No water, No future).
