Several Western Growers members partnered together in a successful fundraiser known as “New York Express” to raise over $14,000 for food bank distribution programs and school produce programs. Ocean Mist Farms, The Nunes Company, Steinbeck Country Produce, Taylor Farms, Tanimura and Antle and Dole Fresh Vegetables donated pallets of iceberg lettuce, celery and cauliflower for this fundraiser and C.H. Robinson donated the associated transportation and delivery costs of taking the produce from Salinas, California to be sold at Hunt’s Point Terminal Market in New York City. Ag Against Hunger coordinates the annual fundraiser every October.
