IRVINE (February 5, 2010) - Western Growers commends U.S. District Court Judge Oliver Wanger for issuing a temporary restraining order (TRO) preventing federal agencies from implementing Endangered Species Act-based restrictions on water pumped from the Delta. The ruling finds that water agency plaintiffs are likely to succeed on their claims that the water pumping restrictions imposed by the so-called salmonid biological opinion (BiOp) would cause irreparable harm.

IRVINE (January 7, 2010) - Western Growers President and CEO Tom Nassif announced today that Henry (Hank) Giclas III, has been promoted to Senior Vice President, Science & Technology, Strategic Planning, effective January 1, 2010.

"Hank began his career with Western Growers in 1990 as Arizona's director of legislative and regulatory affairs with an emphasis on pesticides and pesticide related issues," said Nassif.

IRVINE (September 14, 2009) – Western Growers’ 84th Annual Convention in Las Vegas, November 8 – 11, is loaded with educational opportunities and prospects for networking.

With registration kicking off Sunday afternoon, Western Growers Board of Directors will convene on the morning of Monday November 9, for the Board of Directors Meeting, which is followed by one of the convention’s headline events, the Major Luncheon. Western Growers Chairman Kevin Andrew will deliver the chairman’s address.

Award recognizes leaders and innovators in California instructional school gardens

(Sacramento) – The California School Garden Network (CSGN) announced last week that Louisiana Schnell School’s Garden of Learning is the first-ever winner of the California School Garden of the Year Award. Louisiana Schnell is located in the Sierra foothills town of Placerville, Calif.
