Wednesday, Tom Nassif, along with 3 other leaders from the Agriculture Workforce Coalition, including Bob Stallman with the American Farm Bureau Federation, Jerry Kozak with the National Milk Producers Federation; and Chuck Conner with the National Council of Farmer Cooperatives, met with Senators Feinstein and Rubio along with farmworker advocates.
The talks were the next step toward the introduction of legislation that will address the labor concerns of agriculture producers across the country. We will be working in the coming weeks to finalize legislation that both parties can support, but it is difficult to assess the exact timeframe for coming to a final agreement. We will continue to work with the Agriculture Workforce Coalition as well as our partners in ACIR and other producer groups to ensure that the workforce needs of agriculture are addressed in a comprehensive and effective manner.
