Immigration reform is currently moving through Congress with consideration of the comprehensive Senate bill, S 744. The legislation includes the agreement reached last month between the Agriculture Workforce Coalition (AWC) and the United Farm Workers. The Senate Judiciary Committee begins marking up the legislation on Thursday, and will continue consideration of the legislation until the Senate adjourns for the Memorial Day recess. The full Senate is expected to consider the legislation during most of June.

Western Growers has produced a one-page summary for you to educate your workforce on what this historic legislation could mean to them. The summary is available in both English and Spanish. “What Does Immigration Reform Mean for You,” highlights key points of the agriculture immigration agreement. You may download it here.

Additionally, Agriculture Workforce Coalition partners including Western Growers have prepared a Frequently Asked Questions document that may be useful as you have conversations with your Member of Congress or other local leaders. Stay tuned for additional updates, information, and ways for you to get involved as legislation makes its way through Congress.
