From its turquoise-colored water to its beautiful mountain vistas, Waikiki has it all in this Pacific paradise. And that beautiful scenery will serve as the backdrop for the Western Growers 88th Annual Meeting in November in Hawai’i. Though November might seem far away now, it’s not too early to start planning as the host hotel, the Sheraton Waikiki, will fill up fast. You’ll have educational and network opportunities as well as plenty of friends, food and fellowship for the annual event beginning Sunday, Nov. 10.
The meeting kicks off Nov. 10 with the Welcome Reception; then it’s on to workshops, the PAC Lunch and more on Monday. Congressman Darrell Issa will headline the PAC Lunch, bringing his congressional experience and wisdom to share with you. WG will host another fantastic cooking demo with Hawaii’s own top award winning Chef Sheldon Simeon, another fabulous chef this year – a definite ‘don’t miss’ for your itinerary. On tap for Tuesday is Workshop III, “Investment and Economic Themes.” After a highly-successful and well-attended workshop last year, the WG Financial Services department has put together another stellar panel to help you understand the current economy – and where it’s headed.
And don’t forget about the Major Lunch and Chairman’s Reception as well as the Award Dinner scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 12. This year, diplomat and attorney John Bolton, former US Ambassador to the UN, will join the Major Lunch as keynote speaker, and well-known comedian John Pinette will headline the Award Dinner, where WG will present the Award of Honor to worthy recipient Jon Vessey.
Wednesday morning starts off with a bang with the shotgun golf tournament that includes breakfast and lunch at the Royal Hawaiian Golf Club. Amateurs and pros alike enjoy this world-renowned and challenging course with its rain forest location. It offers beautiful, lush scenery often referred to as “Jurassic Park.” The meeting wraps up Wednesday evening with entertainment and delicious food and beverages at the Suppliers Party, a perfect chance to network and mingle with fellow attendees.
