Central Coast Water Quality Cooperative Groundwater Program - Ag Order

The Central Coast Cooperative Groundwater Program was approved last Friday, July 11.  The deadline for opting into the Groundwater Cooperative, for those of who did not do so on your eNOI previously, has been extended.  If your operations are located within in the Central Coast Regional Water Quality Control Board jurisdiction, the following information here from the Board will be of importance to you:

This is to notify landowners and growers enrolled in the Agricultural Order of the opportunity to participate in the following approved cooperative groundwater monitoring programs:

-Central Coast Cooperative Groundwater Program (Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Monterey, and San Benito Counties)
-Santa Rosa Creek Valley Cooperative Groundwater Monitoring Program (San Luis Obispo County)

The Agricultural Order provides landowners and operators the option to comply with groundwater monitoring requirements by either sampling groundwater wells individually on their agricultural operations, or by joining a groundwater cooperative monitoring program approved by the Executive Officer. There are advantages and disadvantages to both the individual and cooperative groundwater monitoring options (including cost and responsibilities). Individual landowners and operators should evaluate the options carefully and choose the option that best fits their specific situation.  Landowners and operators have 60 days from the date of approval to join a cooperative groundwater monitoring program.  See the attached document for contacts and more information.

The Central Coast Cooperative Groundwater Program was created by the Grower-Shipper Association of Central California, Western Growers, and the Farm Bureaus of Monterey, San Benito, Santa Cruz and Santa Clara Counties.
