FDA Releases E.coli Outbreak Investigative Report, Leafy Greens STEC Action Plan

On April 6, 2021, the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) released two important documents for leafy green operations.  

The first is an investigative report on the fall 2020 outbreak of E. coli O157:H7 illnesses linked to leafy greens’ consumption. In the report, the FDA analyzes outbreaks since 2017 and identifies three key trends leading to the contamination of leafy greens by E. coli O157:H7 in recent years. Sign Up Today for CFAP 2 Payments for COVID-19 Losses

USDA has reopened signups for the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program 2 (CFAP 2) as of April 5, 2021. As part of the Pandemic Assistance for Producers initiative, farmers and ranchers will have at least 60 days to apply or make modifications to existing CFAP 2 applications.  

CFAP 2 provides financial assistance that gives producers the ability to absorb increased marketing costs associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. Among the eligible commodities are specialty crops and nursery crops. The initial CFAP 2 signup ended on Dec. 11, 2020.
