The federal government shutdown is creating a whole range of problems for politicians and citizens alike.  But the effect of the closure is causing even bigger problems for businesses who are trying take the necessary steps to verify the legality of new hires.

The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services website, which houses the E-Verify system, has gone dark until a budget deal is reached and funding is restored. The suspension of E-Verify prevents employers from using any of the agency’s system functions used to enroll, verify, process and view and take action on employment cases.
