IRVINE, Calif. (July 6, 2011)—Today’s signing of an agreement between the United States and the Government of Mexico ends a nearly two-year-long dispute over cross-border trucking and will have a positive impact on the fresh produce industry. Today’s action marks the first phase of the deal and removes 50 percent of the tariffs on U.S. produce and other products shipped to Mexico.

IRVINE, Calif. (June 28, 2011) –Statement by Western Growers President and CEO Tom Nassif on Gov. Jerry Brown’s veto of Senate Bill 104, the “card check” bill:

“We commend the governor’s courageous veto today of Senate Bill 104. We are heartened that the governor has rededicated himself to this important principle, that the secret ballot must be the exclusive means of determining the true wishes of the workers. Gov. Brown has done the right thing and preserved the heart and soul of the Agricultural Labor Relations Act.”
