The California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) issued a press release indicating that it is accepting proposals for the 2014 Specialty Crop Block Grant.  The Specialty Crop Block Grant is an important part of the Farm Bill and was established to enhance the competitiveness of specialty crops in all 50 States through funding of specific projects such as pest and plant disease, food safety, marketing, environmental concerns, nutrition and ag outreach, as well as other priorities.

Grants awards will range from $50,000 to $400,000 per project.  Funding is contingent upon passage of a Farm Bill and availability of funding from the USDA’s Agriculture Marketing Service (MAP).

All proposals must be submitted by Friday, December 6, 2013 at 5 pm PST.
