The Growing California video series is featuring a segment called “Melon Masters” on long-time Western Growers’ member Perry & Sons, Inc.  Growing California is produced by the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) and “explores the sights, sounds and people of California’s diverse agricultural scene.”

The segment focuses on the 4th generation melon farmers who are “one of California’s largest grower- shipper-handler of watermelons.”  Perry & Sons not only grow watermelon, but it also devotes a “large portion of its 6,000 acres to growing pumpkins.”  The family considers both crops “happy crops.” These products are healthy and “bring smiles to people’s faces, especially the children. They love the product,” said Ron Perry, son of CEO Art Perry.
