The California Leafy Greens Marketing Agreement (LGMA) presented Western Growers’ president and CEO, Tom Nassif, and Vice President of Science, Technology and Strategic Planning, Hank Giclas with the “Golden Checkmark” Award during the 88th Annual Meeting in Honolulu last week.
Scott Horsfall, CEO of LGMA and Ryan Talley, LGMA board chairman, member of the WG Board of Directors and partner at Talley Farms, presented the award to Nassif and Giclas who were credited with being instrumental with developing the “first-of-its-kind” program.
“We are honoring Tom Nassif and Hank Giclas today with the LGMA’s Golden Checkmark Award because without them, the LGMA simply would not have been possible,” said Horsfall. “We cannot express enough how beneficial this program has been for leafy greens farmers and handlers. More importantly, it has been tremendously beneficial for consumers who want to enjoy the safest leafy greens possible.”
The “Golden Checkmark“ Award has been given to a number of distinguished honorees, including former California governor, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and former Western Growers chairman, A.G. Kawamura.
