Western Growers’ Senior Vice President and Center for Produce Safety (CPS) board member, Hank Giclas, will moderate the 5th Annual Produce Research Symposium’s opening session sponsored by Center for Produce Safety (CPS) in Newport Beach, California on June 24-25. The opening session topic will be on “Safe and Sustainable Water Solutions.”
“I am very excited that my colleague, Dave Puglia, Senior Vice President has agreed to be the lead off presenter at this opening session,” said WG’s Giclas. “There is no one I know who fundamentally understands the issues associated with both water quantity and quality that face western agriculture better than Dave. Together we expect to offer a lively discussion on the pressures facing irrigated agriculture and the need to manage water in ways that ensure the long-term viability of the fresh produce industry.”
Attendees can expect to see representatives from every spectrum of the food safety chain, from industry to research scientists. The results from CPS funded projects will be presented – with a focus on irrigation water and disinfection methods to reduce the risk of produce contamination, addressing Salmonella and E. coli as potential contaminants.
CPS was formed to focus on providing the produce industry and government with actionable information needed to continually enhance the safety of produce -- Science for the industry, by the industry.
Symposium registration includes general sessions, panel discussions, poster sessions, meal tickets and reception.
