The Agricultural Personnel Management Association (APMA), in conjunction with co-sponsoring organizations that includes Western Growers, began a series of courses last week for agricultural human resources professionals. Graduates of the course will earn a prestigious Human Resources Professional in Agriculture (HRPA) designation.
Western Growers Vice President Karen Timmins helped kick-off the series in Oxnard this past week by leading a class on Managing Employee Compensation. Karen will also lead a second class on September 10.
The next class on the Elements of Human Resources Management will be held on July 9 in Salinas. Laura Penera, HPRA, Director of HR, Al Pak Labor will conduct the session.
Classes can be taken individually or as part of a curriculum leading to a certificate and designation. This unique program consists of eight core courses that are required for the certificate, along with one elective. Participants may take courses in any sequence. Each class offered also qualifies for six hours of general re-certification credit towards PHR, SPHR and GPHR through the Human Resource Certification Institute.
Registration is now open! -- Please select either ‘full program’ for a discounted price or register for each session individually.
