CDFA Announces Second Round of Funding for SWEEP

The California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) has announced a second round of funding for the State Water Efficiency and Enhancement Program (SWEEP) that was authorized in SB 103, emergency drought legislation passed earlier this year. (Spotlight reported on CDFA’s first round of funding which was extended in a previous edition.) Up to $150,000 is available to applicants for water and energy conservation projects such as equipment to facilitate water saving measures and other quantifiable water distribution and greenhouse gas reduction management practices.

SWEEP is a unique opportunity for growers to receive financial assistance to install water distribution systems that save water and reduce greenhouse gases.  Applicants must access the department’s “Application Guidelines” link for eligibility and program requirements. The Financial Assistance Application Submittal Tool (FAAST) is also available to expedite and streamline the application process.

Three free application planning workshops and one webinar is available to assist applicants through the process.  Individuals planning to attend (or who have general program questions) should email grants@cdfa.ca.gov with their contact information, number of seats required and workshop location.
