CIR to Release Report Detailing How California Regulates Fumigants

The Center for Investigative Reporting (CIR) is expected to release a report in the next week or two discussing how California regulates fumigants and other critical crop protection tools. CIR has interviewed many stakeholders for this report ranging from farmers to organizations that want the state to ban or further limit fumigants and other essential pesticides.

It is important to note that California has the world’s most stringent pesticide use restrictions in place to protect human health and the environment. Western Growers continues to advocate for the registration and safe use of pesticides that are critical in growing our state’s fresh fruits, nuts, and vegetables.  Protecting safe and effective crop protection tools is a priority. WG staff is monitoring the status of the report and will provide a member update upon its release.
