Maximum Residue Level (MRL) Grower Priority Database

Western Growers is participating in an update of the Growers Priority Database and is seeking member assistance in identifying pesticides being used by grower members where the established U.S. MRL is greater than the corresponding MRL in Canada, China, Hong Kong, Japan, and South Korea.

A major goal of the database is to provide regulatory agencies with this information in order to readily identify priority issues that can be addressed when work is being done on a pesticide in the regular work processes.  The database captures grower identified priorities for resolving differences in available crop protection tools and MRLs in the United States and other countries.  The information in the database will assist the regulatory agencies to more systematically identify and address grower priorities for MRL establishment and resolution of MRL trade issues. However, to be effective, the database must allow the regulatory agencies to identify the priorities

Identified MRLs will be ranked and identified as:

  • Very High: Pesticide product is critical to production with evidence of impact on trade
  • High: Pesticide product is critical to production with no alternative product options
  • Intermediate: Pesticide product is important to production, but alternative product options are available
  • Low: Pesticide product is not widely used, or multiple alternative product options are available

Western Growers asks your assistance to identify potential MRL trade barriers.   If you know of any instances, please provide us with the pesticide name and the importing country and we will upload the information on the database.
