Santa Clara County has joined the list of counties currently under quarantine for the presence of Asian citrus psyllid. The 99 square-mile quarantine area in the northwestern portion of the county was put in place due to the discovery of psyllids in the city of San Jose near Kelly Park.
The quarantine prohibits the movement of citrus and curry tree nursery stock out of the quarantine area and requires that all citrus fruit be cleaned of leaves and stems prior to moving out of the quarantine area.
The California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) now reports that Fresno, Kern, San Luis Obispo and Santa Clara have partial quarantines in place while the whole of Imperial, Los Angeles, Orange Riverside, San Bernadino, San Diego, Santa Barbara, Tulare, and Ventura are quarantined.
