Remember to Participate in the 2013 California Wage & Benefit Survey

Western Growers is once again participating in the annual California Wage and Benefit Survey conducted by Farm Employers Labor Service (FELS®). The survey provides a market reference for growers making wage and benefit decisions for 15 on-the-farm jobs including: supervisors and foremen; mechanics; equipment operators and tractor drivers; irrigators and general laborers. We encourage all Western Growers Regular Members to participate since the more data that is included, the more reliable the survey results.

Water Update: Snowpack Below Normal; Tiny Smelt Continues to Make Big Waves for Delta Water Supply

With winter storms slowing after the first of the year, the snowpack is slightly below normal say surveyors. The Department of Water Resources reported Tuesday that manual and electronic readings record the snowpack statewide at 93 percent of average for this time of year, totaling just more than half at 55 percent of a total normal year that ends April 1.
