The California Department of Food and Agriculture will revisit several important policy issues at its next meeting, Tuesday, May 7 in Sacramento. The agenda includes an in-depth discussion on agricultural water transfers, specifically focusing on how the permitting process can allow for the timely movement of water. On high-speed rail, the board will revisit the California High-Speed Rail Authority’s outreach and public engagement efforts with agricultural interests concerning route alignment and mitigation.

Cal/OSHA has issued a heat advisory for the Bay Area and Monterey County.  It will be in place until 8 p.m. May 2. This will be just the first of many heat warnings to be issued this year.  Ironically, it is being issued for a coastal area not usually subject to high heat temperatures.
