For the past four years, WG has been working on a funding solution to address drinking water contamination issues in disadvantaged communities. While we initially advocated the funding should come from a small fee on water bills, and increased fees on agriculture that would have been tied to enforcement changes, the governor and legislature instead decided to continuously appropriate $130 million a year over the next 10 years from the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund. Senator Monning’s SB-200 passed both houses of the legislature and is now before the governor for his signature.
