With a $1 million donation, Western Growers has joined dozens of industry organizations in supporting CPS’s new capital fundraising campaign to expand produce safety research. The 2020 CPS campaign aims to raise $15 million to finance produce safety research over the next five years, subsequently applying learnings from that research to industry and other produce safety stakeholders. WG was also a champion in the 2015 campaign, where the association contributed another $1 million donation.
From its inception in 2007, CPS has invested $32 million to fund produce-specific food safety research worldwide. It then shares that research with industry, government and other produce safety stakeholders through a variety of outreach activities. Over the years, WG and its members have been dedicated supporters of CPS’s efforts to advance food safety research and develop ready-to-use solutions to improve the safety of fresh produce globally.
