Phase II of the Field Harvest Acceleration Initiative has begun. After reviewing the recommendations from the Maestro Consulting Group, the Field Harvest Acceleration Steering Committee has begun implementing the five suggestions on how to best define an acceleration strategy specifically geared toward field harvest automation.

Two different subcommittees are meeting to identify a Sentinel project. The first group meeting explored criteria for lettuce, broccoli and melons. Mike Dentinger from Trimble, a Western Growers Center for Innovation & Technology sponsor, guided the group in exploring projects and technologies that would best demonstrate the importance of collaboration and lay the groundwork for quicker results. In addition to Dentinger, participants included Turlock Fruit, Church Brothers, Grimmway Farms and Driscoll’s.
