Bayer CropScience, one of Western Growers’ Annual Meeting Platinum Sponsors, is looking to honor a grower whose thinking, practices and use of technology enhance the role of produce in creating better lives. Do you know anyone who fits that description?

Specifically, the award will focus on growers whose innovations:

Jeff Janas

The upcoming October issue of the WG&S magazine includes an article on sustainable agriculture that features two WG members -- The Nunes Company and Church Brothers -- and what each is doing to sell edible fresh produce items that were previously discarded or not harvested. Their innovative approaches to reducing food waste are stories worth telling, especially since they have the added benefit of being eco-friendly.

Cory Lunde

Are you one of the many Western Growers members who took advantage last year of drought assistance funding through the State Water Efficiency Program (SWEEP)?  Maybe you meant to but never got around to it?  Either way, the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) has opened a new round of funding and is now accepting applications for competitive grants to implement irrigation systems that reduce greenhouse gases and save water on California agricultural operations.
