A roundtable on issues affecting western agriculture held by Western Growers and the Hawaii Farm Bureau punctuated events at the 88th Annual Meeting in Honolulu.
The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced today that it will invest $52 million in Specialty Crop Block Grants, a program funded authorized the 2008 Farm Bill, to support producers of fresh fruits and vegetables and other specialty crops.
As expected, there were more fireworks today on Farm Bill related issues in the U.S. House of Representatives as the food stamp/nutrition component of the bill made its way to the House Floor for consideration.
