Yesterday, Western Growers and C.H. Robinson hosted a Giving Day to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Western Growers Transportation Program. The national event used C.H. Robinson’s Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, hub and transportation system to collect and distribute 240,000 pounds of produce donations made by Western Growers’ members to Feeding America locations across the country.

Feeding America is the nation’s largest domestic hunger relief organization, providing food to 46 million low-income Americans every year.

Retired Navy Flag Officer Garry E. Hall will headline the Major Lunch at the 91st Annual Meeting this November in Hawaii. Admiral Hall’s military and private sector experience will allow him to touch on broad themes such as global security, bio-terrorism and food security. His background in naval aviation, surface warfare and Navy and Marine Corps expeditionary warfare, combined with 20 years of senior management as a civilian, will make for an intriguing keynote address.

As part of this week’s Board of Directors’ meeting in Newport Beach, Western Growers (WG) will officially unveil its new Irvine-based headquarters in a ribbon-cutting ceremony this evening. WG Chairman Larry Cox of Lawrence Cox Ranches in Brawley, Calif. will perform the ribbon-cutting honors. Directors in town for the meeting, as well as their spouses, will receive a tour of the new facility followed by a reception and dinner on the lawn.

Western Growers would like to thank and recognize our sponsors who have already stepped up to support this year’s Annual Meeting at the Grand Hyatt Kauai from November 6-9, 2016.

This meeting will be well-attended and presents a perfect opportunity to promote your company’s products and services to the leaders of the fresh fruit and vegetable industry.

There are plenty of sponsorship opportunities still available! Check out our Annual Meeting page for sponsorship details or to become a sponsor.
