The IRS recently issued a notice granting an extension of the 1095-B and 1095-C reporting. Specifically, the notice extends the due date for furnishing the 2016 Form 1095-B, Health Coverage, and the 2016 Form 1095-C, Employer-Provided Health Insurance Offer and Coverage, from January 31, 2017, to March 2, 2017.
This is an important reminder that the deadline to mail the IRS form 1095 to covered employees is fast approaching. WGAT will mail a copy of the 1095-B to employees on behalf of employers with less than 50 full-time employees by the IRS deadline of March 31, 2016. In order to act, we need your company’s legal name, employer tax ID number, and employer size no later than March 25, 2016.
The Affordable Care Act (ACA) requires that all large employers (and all self-insured employers) to file new tax forms stating whether or not they offered coverage to full-time employees. The deadline to furnish required forms to employees has been delayed to March 31, 2016, and the deadline to file the forms with the IRS has been extended to June 30, 2016 (if sending electronically) and May 31, 2016 (if sending by mail).
