Craig Alameda

Craig Alameda

Craig Alameda is the co-Owner of Topflavor Farms Inc. and Sabor Farms.

Craig grew up in the San Francisco Bay area along with his brothers Steve and Antone Alameda. They all started working in the fields at a young age with their father Melford Alameda and their grandfather Antone Alameda.

Working for L.S. Williams, a grower/packer/shipper company, the Gudpak and Topflavor labels mainly sold cauliflower. In the early 50’s, all three brothers graduated from California Polytechnic State University at San Luis Obispo. In 1984, Melford Alameda and his sons purchased the L.S. Williams company from S.E. Williams and became the Alameda Company.

Unfortunately, due to urban encroachment as well as a couple of very wet years from an El Nino, the Alameda Company moved and began farming with Skyview Cooling out of Mexico. In 1991, Tanimura and Antle offered the Alamedas an incredible opportunity to grow for them in Bard, California, and Topflavor Farms was established. Soon after, Topflavor Farms expanded to Salinas, California and continued to expand over the years to Castroville, Hollister, San Juan Bautista, and Yuma. In 2006, Topflavor, along with Jess Quinlin, formed the grower/packer company Sabor Farms.

Topflavor Farms currently grows a wide variety of crops year-round for Tanimura and Antle and Sabor Farms. The Alamedas went on to form a variety of companies with other partners in different facets of the Ag industry. The Ag labor company, Foothill Packing Inc., was created in 1999. Priority Seed was acquired in 2002 and Priority Pollination was created in 2015.

The Alamedas are long-standing members of the Yuma Fresh Vegetable Association, Western Growers Association, and the Grower-Shipper Association of Central California. Topflavor Farms is a family owned and operated company which continues to grow and expand into new endeavors in the ever-changing Ag industry.
