Stephanie Thara is the communications manager for Western Growers where she is responsible for advancing the Association’s strategic initiatives through social media, media relations and content creation. As a communications professional with nearly eight years’ experience, Stephanie has built her career in a variety of roles and industries.

Previously, she led the digital communications and social media efforts for the California State University, the nation’s largest university system. Stephanie played a key role in formulating and executing the CSU’s publicity and outreach strategies through the use of traditional and web tools. She was responsible for enhancing and protecting the CSU brand by developing the University’s social media footprint through Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.

Prior to her tenure at the CSU, Stephanie worked at numerous public relations agencies where she helped manage the public relations strategies for clients such as King’s Hawaiian, Panda Express, Super Mex, Wienerschnitzel, Harley-Davidson and the City of Garden Grove.

Stephanie received a master’s degree in public administration, as well as a bachelor’s degree in journalism—public relations, from CSU Long Beach. In addition to her current duties with Western Growers, Stephanie is president of the Long Beach Junior Chamber of Commerce, immediate past-president of the Aquarium of the Pacific Wavemakers Toastmasters Club, a member of the Public Relations Society of America and a long-time volunteer for Habitat for Humanity. Outside of professional interests, she travels widely and races her wiener dog, Schotzy, on a regular basis.
