Ron Ratto

Ron Ratto is a co-owner of Ratto Bros., Inc., along with other family members.  Ron has spent his work life with the company, specializing in satisfying as many government agencies as possible, and still having a $1 profit at the end of the year.  Ratto Bros. was founded in 1905 by Ron’s grandfather, Antone L. Ratto.  Antone’s five sons (Ron’s father and four uncles) followed in his footsteps.  They were succeeded by Ron and three cousins in operating the company.  Four of their sons are now learning the ropes.

The company farms about 1,000 acres in Modesto, California, planting over 30 varieties of fresh vegetables and leafy greens.  The company conducts its own operations in growing, harvesting, packing, cooling, sales  and shipping.

Ron earned his B.S. from the College of Agriculture, University of California at Berkeley.  He has served on the Western Growers Board since 2013 and was Chair of the Board in 2019.  He is on the board of the California Leafy Greens Marketing Agreement (LGMA) and is an LGMA past chair. Ron also serves as a trustee of the Western Growers Assurance Trust.
