Founded in 1926, Western Growers represents local and regional family farmers growing fresh produce in Arizona, California, Colorado and New Mexico. Our members and their workers provide over half the nation's fresh fruits, vegetables and tree nuts, including nearly half of America's fresh organic produce. Some members also farm throughout the U.S. and in other countries so people have year-round access to nutritious food. For generations our members have provided variety and healthy choices as the first line of defense against obesity and disease. We grow the best medicine in the world.®
Since the 1920s, my family has prided itself on growing the sweetest California citrus, and this is a tradition I want to pass on to the next generation. But building a business that can stand the test of time can be challenging. Which is why my family relies on Western Growers to provide us... more
I am a fourth-generation family farmer. I am also a third generation member of Western Growers, and for the past forty years, Western Growers has helped my family business grow.
Being a member of Western Growers has saved me thousands of dollars over the years.
...Western Growers is the strongest voice western agriculture has…Especially in the last 10 years, the leadership at Western Growers has performed at the highest level…My brother and I are very appreciative of everything Western Growers does.
We can’t do this alone. I rely on Western Growers to represent us on costly regulatory matters that affect our business – they have proven to be a consistent and powerful front for our industry.
Western Growers allows each farmer in California and Arizona one voice when tackling issues that affect all farmers and the future of agriculture. This is extremely important for each grower to be able to work collaboratively to achieve one goal to sustain farming in California and Arizona.
Western Growers offers many great services…but the major reason we belong to the association is because of the representation. Western Growers represents our interests and they are one of the strongest voices for agriculture that there is.
I would be lost in this industry without [Western Growers]. I receive phenomenal advice in many areas including the technical aspects of buying and selling fresh produce…it’s like having an expert in your own backyard.
Western Growers is in my corner, working for me and fighting the good fight for our industry. We remain loyal members because they have consistently shown us value.
The demands of farming specialty crops in California coupled with constant and changing demands from the marketplace have made our jobs of growing and selling fresh table grapes ever more challenging. Add the constraints of increasing regulatory issues, food safety and relentless politics, and... more
Western Growers was founded in 1926 in California's Imperial Valley. Then, we were called the Western Growers Protective Association, and our mission was to fight for fair transportation rates for the agricultural industry. We brought the industry together to support a common goal with the philosophy that there is strength in numbers. As we've expanded to provide a lobbying voice in state and federal government, affordable health benefits, PACA support, legal and human resources guidance and more, this philosophy continues to guide our growth. We are here to satisfy one mission — to enhance the competitiveness and profitability of our members.
Western Growers' leadership sets our association apart from the rest. Our executive team has close to 100 years of combined experience, and their direction has helped Western Growers to lead the charge in every facet of specialty crop agriculture.
At Western Growers, our staff is our family. Whether we're supporting lobbying efforts in state and federal arenas or processing the health benefit claims for our Western Growers Assurance Trust participants, our staff is dedicated to the same goals — to make life better for our members.
Our Board of Directors is a who's who list of specialty agriculture. These multigeneration business leaders represent many of the top companies providing fruits, vegetables and nuts for the nation. They also are the voice of the members in their districts, and they are ready to help you get the most from your Western Growers membership.
Working at Western Growers means doing everything possible to help members succeed. And just like our members, whose family businesses sometimes span five generations, Western Growers is family. If you're looking for a challenging career supporting the people who help feed the nation, Western Growers may be the fit for you.
