California Senate to Hear Votes on AB 1897 and AB 2416 Next Week

You still have time to contact your Senator and urge a ‘NO’ vote on two bills opposed by Western Growers and a large coalition of organizations.  If you have not already done so, please utilize WG Action Center to contact your senator and urge him/her to oppose both bills.  It’s quick and easy!

Urge a “NO’ vote on AB 2416

AB 1897(Hernandez, D-West Covina) is a labor union-sponsored bill that would create joint liability for growers, shippers and other businesses that utilize contractors to provide labor.

AB 2416 (Stone, D-Scotts Valley) would allow employees and employees’ representatives to file pre-judgment liens against employers for wage claims.  Liens could be placed against the employer’s real and personal property before the wage claim has been determined to be valid.

Thank you to those members who have already reached out to their senator to urge a ‘NO’ vote!
