WG Women Program

Western Growers believes that women are essential to the future of agriculture, which is why we have developed WG Women, a program that prepares women for positions of leadership within WG member companies and the broader fresh produce industry.

WG Women is planning a new series of virtual and in person leadership development opportunities, including online leadership and social media and traditional media training courses.

Participation in WG Women is limited to employees of WG member companies, and participants are admitted following formal acceptance of the program application. Once accepted into the program, WG Women must complete a minimum of 18 program credits, this requirement will increase to 20 program credits starting in January 2025, to earn an official certificate of completion.

A fresh produce industry that reflects the value of women in production agriculture and promotes women to the highest levels of company and industry leadership.

Program Requirements

WG Women participants have access to a series of ongoing virtual and in-person activities aimed at supporting professional growth and creating pathways to influential leadership opportunities in the fresh produce industry. 20 credits are required to complete the program and earn a WG Certification of Completion. At least one year of program participation will also be necessary to achieve the requisite number of credits. Following completion of the program, WG Women participants are encouraged to attend future events to maintain and grow relationships and professional skills for years to come.

2026 WGW Relationship Strategies Workshop

Date: September 24, 2026
Location: Salinas, CA

Led by Peter Stark, this half day leadership workshop will help participants identify behavioral styles, pinpoint their preferred styles, and learn to communicate effectively with each behavioral pattern. After the workshop, we will embarking on a 2 hour tour of D’Arrigo Bros. Co., of California.

Meet Western Growers Women Program Manager Cierra Allen

Cierra Allen joined Western Growers in June of 2023 as the WG Women Program Manager. She also provides support to the Western Growers University as well as Western Growers Future Volunteer Leaders Program. Before joining Western Growers, she worked in the agriculture industry focusing on policies and communications at a local level. Cierra received her Bachelor of International Agriculture Development from UC Davis in 2019. Cierra was born and raised in the Imperial Valley and comes from a 4^th generation farming family.
