It was another busy week on social media, with posts covering everything from rising labor costs and the realities of farming today to food safety and some common misconceptions about agriculture.
Jordan Long of Western Growers H-2A Services broke down the implications of AB 2646 and what rising labor costs can mean beyond the farm. He explained how labor costs can influence production decisions, the competitiveness of California-grown food and ultimately what consumers pay at the grocery store.
We also heard from Western Growers VP of External Affairs Cory Lunde, who addressed the misconception of “Big Ag” and explained how many of America’s largest and most sophisticated farms are still family businesses.
On Facebook, we shared a consumer-oriented guide to help parents better understand cadmium in fresh produce, including why its presence doesn’t necessarily mean food is unsafe and the importance of offering young ones a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables.
As always, our goal is to use social media to give our members a voice, help clear up misconceptions about agriculture and explain how the issues facing growers can have an impact beyond the farm.
