Join us for a one-day workshop covering leave law mandates and disability accommodation in the workplace. This unique opportunity is a chance to build and refine human resource management skills around employee leaves laws and the employer’s duty to provide a discrimination free workplace.

Those in attendance will first learn how to navigate through the most common federal and state leaves (e.g., FMLA, CFRA, PDL) and then take a deep-dive into disability discrimination and the employer’s duties under state and federal law to provide a discrimination free workplace.

Leave management is one of the most complicated aspects of employment law. If an employee does not come into work, numerous company polices and leave laws may be involved. In this course, you will learn how to navigate through the most common federal and state leaves, including FMLA, CFRA, PDL, and more. One single leave may involve numerous laws that have different leave requirements. Find out what is covered, who is eligible, and identify which leaves apply to your business. Stop wondering if you are making the right decisions and start managing employee leave with confidence.

Disability Discrimination and Employer Duties Under State and Federal Law (Teresa McQueen, Esq.)

Employer provided disability accommodation requires more than ergonomic offerings. This program will highlight disability accommodation in the workplace as an ever-increasing part of the employment litigation landscape. The program will focus on the requirements of state and federal law when it comes to conducting the “good faith interactive process” and determining whether a “reasonable accommodation” can or should be provided and employer obligations to provide discrimination free access to employment. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of applicable discrimination prevention laws and their overarching purpose, learn “best practices” when it comes to conducting the interactive process and determining reasonable accommodations, and leave with a better understanding of the court’s perception of employer obligations when it comes to providing a discrimination free workplace.
