Western Growers’ Hank Giclas to be Honored at 2022 Food Safety Conference

The University of Arizona Food Safety Consortium’s annual 2022 Food Safety Conference will honor and dedicate this year’s conference to the late Hank Giclas, former Senior Vice President, Strategic Planning, Science & Technology at Western Growers, who passed away earlier this year.

Hank served the Western fresh produce industry in various capacities with Western Growers for more than three decades, from 1990 until he retired in 2020.

The Food Safety Consortium and its partners from academia and industry and government agencies will discuss pressing issues in food safety and the industry’s roles in addressing current and future challenges. The conference will kick off with a virtual (Zoom) session on October 26 from 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. On October 27, the conference will continue with an in-person poster and networking session from 2:30 p.m. – 5 p.m.
