There was plenty happening in the field and on the policy front this week, giving us a chance to connect with consumers while keeping members informed.
We visited Queen Victoria Farms (Ippolito International) in Salinas for a behind-the-scenes look at how Brussels sprouts and artichokes are grown and harvested before reaching grocery store shelves.
Luis Barrera of Empire Farm Labor Contractor also showed us the ins and outs of harvesting Romaine hearts, so consumers can see the work that goes into getting them from the field to their plates.
On X, Western Growers H-2A Services’ Jordan Long addressed some of the questions that remain for California agricultural employers as AB 2646 is set to take effect Jan. 1, 2027, including who will be affected and how wages could be calculated.
Whether we’re taking consumers into the field or breaking down the issues affecting growers, our goal is to make sure our members’ stories and voices are heard.
